She paints what she loves so much in Russia: Bolshoi ballets. With her gait and her pout that evokes another romance, supermodel Sasha also has a mania: she draws all the time. All the time and everything. On a canvas or a piece of torn paper. With acrylics, watercolor, wine or strawberry. It is like that since she was 6 years old. She took courses in Moscow and in the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, where she studied with contemporary Russian masters, like Sergei Bugaev. In her studio in Brooklyn, she seeks to express the fragility of things. It’s the spectrum of colors that guide her. Landscapes and portraits with an intention always positive, because beauty is all that matters. For these exclusive drawings, she was inspired by her memories of the Valeriy Yakovlevich Levental library, former designer of mythical ballet, also located in New York. — Les Couleurs d’un Soir, Art by Sasha Pivovarova for Vogue Paris October 2006.
I would have drawn my childhood heroes like so.
